Biography
Patricia “Patty” Kuderer is an accomplished state senator, attorney, and what she considers to be her most rewarding job: mom. She has over 30 years of legal experience, receiving her JD from William Mitchell College of Law (now Mitchell Hamlin) in 1986. She has a broad legal background, practicing first as a prosecutor and city attorney, and now limiting her practice to plaintiff’s personal injury, employment discrimination and contracts, and public records cases. Patty joined Mercer Island Law Group in 2019. She is a skilled trial attorney and has significant appellate experience, including several arguments before the Minnesota Supreme Court. She is admitted to both the state and federal courts for Washington and Minnesota. She is a current member of the Washington State Bar Association and is an Eagle member of the Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ).
In addition to her work as a lawyer, Patty is a powerful force within the Washington State Legislature. She is the first female state senator to serve the 48th Legislative District where she lives. Prior to joining the Senate, she served in the Washington House of Representatives from 2015-2016. During her time in the Legislature, she has sponsored legislation to help shape education, assist discrimination victims, expand voting rights, improve healthcare, increase housing options and reform the criminal justice system, as well as helping to empower women in her community and around the state. As a practicing attorney and legislator, Patty draws on her legal experiences when working on legislation to help the people of her district and across the state.
In her spare time, Patty enjoys donating her time to various non-profits. She has volunteered her time for organizations such as The Anti-Defamation League, NARAL Pro-Choice Washington, and Virtues Children Nepal to name a few. She also enjoys spending time with her two grown children, and other family and friends. An avid canine lover, her successive campaigns have given her the opportunity to be on a first-name basis with lots of dogs who live in her District.
